Starkly, darkly brilliant. The circular narrative always brings you right back home, which is where you want to be with this book. I felt like an explorer just reading this book, like a kid reading about outer space.

Words are extremly elegantly and yet economically put together, as if " distilled and to be the essential of" a book or a reflection of her thoughts. It has wit, warmth and gives up little to sentimental feelings to make it less sincere or clear-minded, yet I find myself touched deeply, hauntingly, as if being shown a display of the photography that captures a beautiful soul, of a person but of also that vast land where she became what she is.  

I listened to this book while relaxing on a float in my pool. I was transported to Africa. I didn't like the movie as much.
