This handbook was designed to address the needs of all those involved in information and documentation tasks and offers guidelines for establishing an information and documentation resource center (IDRC) or a similar structure within administrations in charge of tourism. It consists of two parts. Part one discusses the basic elements needed to set up an IDRC as well as matters related to the function, administrative and material organization, activities, and computerization of such a center. Part two is a veritable methodological and technical guide that shows the steps to be followed to establish and manage an IDRC, taking new information technologies into account.
