This book has, and will always be, a prime resource for me to show teachers how to talk to students.
As a new teacher ten years ago, I wish someone had shown me this book. In hindsight, I see
that all of my best attempts to get students to focus and learn often translated into very negative criticisms. I was even told that I sounded negative by others-- but I was never offered another option for how to get students to do what they needed to do to learn.
This book offers very clear examples of how to talk to students so that they feel respected, but also understand what they need to do, very clearly. It's a powerful teaching tool for parents and teachers.
