I approached MacKinnon's work when young as a rather naive closeted queer Christian; this bit of biography may explain why I saw a work centered on the conflict of man and woman as brilliant. Decades later, obviously no longer closeted, yet still with some spark of hope for a better world, I remain of the opinion that MacKinnon's work is brilliant. While I can understand a straight "sex positive" person might find her work dated or irrelevant, just as I have tried to see the world from the Other perspective I ask you, dear reader, to offer her the same consideration. This work is the theory which was the basis for a great deal of progressive work to defend the poorest and weakest from injustice. MacKinnon deserves to be proud of her contribution to the struggle for justice.
