COLOR ME WHITEWAS PUBLISHED IN 1996 . EITHER IT FAILED TO RECEIVE THE NECESSARY PUBLICITY TO BE SUCCESSFULOR IT DID NOT MEET THE CRITICAL APPROVAL OF THE PUBLIC. ITS MESSAGE REMAINS BASICALLY THE SAME HOWEVER SOME OF THE MAJOR CHARACTERS PORTRAYED IN THE ORIGINAL EDITION HAVE BEEN GIVEN A MUCH MORE EXPANDED ROLE. EFFORTS AT RE-LIVING THE ACTUAL EPISODESDEPICTED HAVE BEEN ENHANCEDTHROUGHOUT THE CONTENTSOF THE BOOK.
SHARING THE EFFECTS OF DISCRIMINATION IS NOT AN EASY TASK . THE JOURNEY IS FRAUGHT WITH PIT-FALLS BECAUSE IT IS DIFFICULT TO BE OBJECTIVE IN THIS MOST SENSITIVE AREA. EFFORTS HAVE BEEN MADE AT NOT EMBELLISHING THE FACTS AS THEY HAPPENED, IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THE READER WITH ACCURATE INFORMATION AS THE DRAMA OF LIFE UNFOLDED.
DISCRIMINATION IN ANY FORM AFFECTS US PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, AND SPIRITUALLY. IT TRANSCENDS GENERATIONS AND CREATES AN INCIPIENT PARANOIA THAT INTERFERES WITH OUR TRUST AND VALUE SYSTEM. AS HUMAN BEINGS CONQUERING THE RESIDUALS OF DISCRIMINATI0N IS NOT AN EASY PROCESS DUE TO OUR INABILITY TO FORGET THAT WHICH WE HAVE EXPERIENCED. IMAGINE FOR A MOMENT THE PENT-UP ANGER, RAGE AND FRUSTRATION THAT LIE DORMANT IN MILLIONS OF ETHNIC MINORITIESTHAT COULD QUITE POSSIBLY EXPLODE AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT, GIVEN THE APPROPRIATE CUES AND THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES. WITH THESE FACTORS IN MIND, SOME COPING SKILLS WHICH PROVED TO AMELIORATE THE RAVAGES OF DISCRIMINATION ARE SHARED BY THE AUTHOR.
