Adventuring with Books: A Booklist for Pre-K-grade 6Intended to provide teachers with a list of recently published books recommended for children, this annotated booklist cites titles of children's trade books selected for their literary and artistic quality. The annotations in the booklist include a critical statement about each book as well as a brief description of the content, and--where appropriate--information about quality and composition of illustrations is also given. The 1,700 titles and annotations are divided into the following categories: (1) books for young children, (2) traditional literature, (3) modern fantasy, (4) historical fiction, (5) contemporary realistic fiction, (6) poetry, (7) language, (8) social studies, (9) biography, (10) sciences, (11) fine arts, (12) crafts and hobbies, (13) sports and games, (14) holidays, and (15) professional books.
