About the author (2012)

Jim Widess is the author of the bestselling The Caner's Handbook (Lark, 1983). He has co-authored several books, including The Complete Book of Gourd Craft (Lark, 1998) and Making Gourd Musical Instruments (Sterling, 1999). Jim is the owner of The Caning Shop (caning.com), a store and successful mail-order business that caters to gourd crafters, basket makers, and chair caners.
