Recommendation 95, on the "importance of fusing the processes of social inquiry and policy-making", and Recommendation 97, on taking the lead "in encouraging and supporting research on crime and on the programs which seek to control crime" were influential in the decision to create the Department of the Solicitor General in 1966.
