There is little plot and even less action. Instead, this is a piece about stagnation. Perhaps not really about stagnation, but the protagonist is stuck on many levels; unable to move beyond a woman with whom he spent a couple months years earlier. Read full review

lovely little book. very kind introduction to modiano. I picked up this book in 98 or so, the English translation. It sat on my shelves for years. I wish I had read it earlier now. This is a fine artistic novel. Read full review
