Ships of Our Ancestors (Google eBook)
A resource of photographs of steamships which brought our European ancestors to our eastern shores. It was on board of these pictured ships our ancestors as immigrants "in steerage" across the turbulent Atlantic, in conditions of extreme discomfort & peril. It was these propeller-driven, steel-hulled leviathans of legend, owned & operated by such famous lines as Cunard, North-German Lloyd, White Star Guion, Red Star, Inman & Hamburg American. In their groaning steerage decks they transported an ocean of humanity to an uncertain future in the Americas. How wonderful to see these ships in photgraphs & picture our ancestors thereon. From the crowded decks of these awesome vessels, countless thousands of families embarked on their American odyssey! SHIPS OF OUR ANCESTORS is a most complete photographic archive of nearly 900 ships arranged in alphabetical order, identified by date launched, shipping line & source. This will be the most tangible evidence of this momentous event in each of our family's heritage. The most visual evidence in your research. Price $34.95 plus $3.00 mailing. Paperback. Aptly named, this 1983 title is a collection of photographs of the ships on which immigrants crossed the oceans to the United States from the mid-1800s to the mid-1900s. Each photo includes the name of the vessel along with the year of its construction and the line to which it belonged. Read full review
You better read this book about the S.S. Caledonia 1904 Anchor Line,
because it's the ship that bought my family over from Leitrim County, Ireland. It's a great book! Thank You
