as far as style goes, not a great read...however it is a wonderful history of early SF fandom as well as events leading up to and at the first WorldCon...for the other side of the story read The Futurians by Damon Knight. Read full review

A very interesting (though not particularly well-written) history of the first couple of decades of sf fandom. One has to remember how young most of the participants were, and how seriously they took their activities. The title itself reflects how passionately they regarded things. Read full review
