About the author (2000)

BEN RAFOTH teaches courses in qualitative research methods at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he has been a professor in the English department for fourteen years. He also directs the Writing Center at IUP. He conducted his first interview when he worked as a newspaper reporter in Ohio. Today he uses interviews to study how students learn to write and how writing center tutors can help them.
