About the author (1983)

E.L. Doctorow is the author of several award-winning novels, including RAGTIME, WORLD'S FAIR, which won the National Book Award; BILLY BATHGATE, and, most recently, CITY OF GOD. In 1998 he was awarded the National Humanities Medal.
