Some say succeeding in the Arts as a professional Artist is all about fame and fortune. So much of our desires are based on false illusions about the industry and what we read in glossy magazines. Being a professional Artist is a life long journey of becoming who you want to be, and achieving success through what you love to do. It s about living  your dream. It s also about setting goals that you alone determine if they have rewarded you rather than what the industry defines as success. The Arts industry, whether that be in music, theatre, film, writing, dance or any business about Art, can be cruel and very un-artistic. It s often about survival, especially survival of the fittest. It can feel like a competitive war against large corporations, those who judge you (which can even include your family) and the other artists who are also climbing their way to the top.
Gilli Moon, artist, author and record company owner, brings to you her first book, I Am a Professional Artist, offering Artists who've chosen the professional path, practical steps in harnessing one s creative abilities to succeed and survive in the Arts and enjoy your artistry at the same time. Including interviews with various professional Artists, I Am a Professional Artist combines a self-empowering practical guide in surviving and succeeding in the Arts with key business principles and spiritual nourishment. Consider it an Artistic soul s survival guide in business! I AM a Professional Artist follows 2 simple principles: If you want to be a professional Artist, the first thing to realize is that you have to be two people: An Artist, and a Business person. The second principle is based on her own coined phrase: The three Os: Optimism + Organized equals Opportunity.
I Am a Professional Artist will certainly change the thinking of any professional artist who may doubt themselves or their art, who may feel pressured by the industry, or may feel the hardship of the roller coaster ride.

About the author (2007)

Australia’s Hollywood based Gilli Moon is a Poly-media Artist, creative entrepreneur, author, speaker, business strategist, and certified coach: with a ceaseless contribution to the creative and business communities at large.

Gilli is an unprecedented DIY Music success. Her willingness and pleasure in providing her unparalleled insight and knowledge of the music industry to help other musicians navigate and find success for their own art is, indeed, a rare commodity. She is a self made brand.

BILLBOARD Magazine, who states she “beat the odds,” at making it in the music industry after moving from the Australian wilderness to Los Angeles, and who Artists for a Better World called “a female Elton John,” Gilli is not only a unique, and energetic chanteuse with six CD releases to her name, but she also has become a beacon for artists and creatively minded executives around the world, inspired and motivated by Gilli's story as an Artist and self-made Entrepreneur herself. She is constantly creating projects for her own passions, as well as for others.

What began as a young Artist's desire to showcase her own creative talents, and reach fans around the world, became a lifelong crusade to help any and all artists and individuals to reach their full potential, along the way. What she has learned, she has shared with others. It's in her nature.

She is the CEO of her own entertainment company, Warrior Girl Music, one of the first record labels that truly paved the way for "Indie" artists since 1999. As a philanthropist, inspired to make a difference in the music industry for songwriters, in '97 Gilli created Songsalive!, which is now the largest international non-profit public benefit charity for Songwriters.

So while her Artistic career continues in full throttle (recording her 7th album), she is also a coach, author, speaker and activist, continually supporting the "under dog" and independent visionaries in her worldwide communities.

With a Bachelor of Education in visual arts and business, and certified as a Professional and Business/Executive Coach, Gilli coaches emerging and professional Artists and Business Owners to build their professional dream, achieve your goals, develop skills, and empower them towards a  life or career they've always imagined.

She has written 2 motivational books for artists of all genres based on her experiences in the music and general arts businesses as an artist and entrepreneur, - "I AM A Professional Artist - the Key to Survival and Success in the World of the Arts" and "Just Get Out There - Achieving Abundance, Self-Empowerment and Professional Success as an Artist Entrepreneur".  She is currently writing a book for Businesses using creativity and the creative perspective to motivate, inspire and provide strategies for up-and-coming and established executives, entrepreneurs, small business owners and large corporation teams.

She is constantly invited to speak at various music conferences and workshops around the world about her story as an independent Artist, and she provides tips and tools on how Music Artists can create success in their own careers. She also delivers workshops for Actors, Dancers, and any individual interested in pursuing the Arts as a profession. Her two most successful workshops are “The Path to Artist Empowerment”, and “Just Get Out There - The Successful Artist Entrepreneur”, both of which are highly requested by many International Music Conferences, as well as conducting them at her own Artist Workshops.

Gilli has received numerous press for her courage, power and dynamic energy as an artist and inspiration for other artists, and has worked with other highly respected prominent artists including Simple Minds, Placido Domingo and Eric Idle (Monty Python). She was interviewed on Australia’s 60 Minutes and in the International NEWSWEEK magazine as a pioneer and leader in the independent music business; been featured alongside Aimee Mann in discussing their mutual success in the indie music scene in Music Connection Magazine; and has had music at No. 1 on many internet and traditional radio stations. She is constantly featured in the media, online, and radio with her music and outstanding achievements. Just Google her!

Gilli is constantly creating artistic projects and nurturing other artists along the way with her seminars and writings. With her Songsalive! world nation, her company Warrior Girl Music, her Book writing, coaching and Speaking, Gilli has effectively brought together hundreds of thousands of artists, songwriters and entrepreneurs together under various umbrellas and continues to inspire and enrich along the way.
