Having experienced the very poor results of my family and friends' attempts at home brewing using home brew beer kits, I decided to see how it should be done. I was lucky enough to come across this book. It was the recipes that emulate beers that I know and love that attracted me.
My first attempt at brewing beer following one of the recipes was a complete success. It was a very tasty, crystal-clear ale. My friends refused to believe that it was home-brew. I can't say that it necessarily tasted like the beer it was supposed to be, but to me, that wasn't important. I had proved that you can home-brew a really decent beer, approaching commercial quality.
Subsequent brews were equally successful. If you follow the recipes to the letter, you will get a good, tasty beer. It's true that they won't always taste exactly like the beer the recipe is trying to emulate, but they will be good beer.
