LESTER H. BRUNE is the John and Augusta Oglesby Professor of American Heritage at Bradley University. His previous publications include the three-volume Chronological History of United States Foreign Relations, 1776-1989 (1985-1991), America and the Iraqi Crisis, 1990-1992 (1993), The Missile Crisis of October 1962 (1985), a coeditor of America and the Indochina Wars, 1945-1990: A Bibliographical Guide (1991) and chapters on defense policy and diplomacy for Robin Higham and Mrozek's A Guide to the Sources of U.S. Military History, Supplements II (1986) and III (1993).
