Really well written book with wonderful descriptive passages but a little too much golf for me. April 18, 2009

Read this while on vacation in Hawaii. I love golf, so you know my bias. But, for any golfer who has an interest in the history of golf, and in the great games of any sport, this was an outstanding book! It went a LONG way to helping me understand the history of golf (especially the difference between amateurs and professionals, and how the two were previously viewed), and how we got to where we are. Mr. Frost's writing was, to me, spellbinding. I couldn't wait to go to the next page. The personal histories of the greats of the game were remarkable and spellbinding. I highly recommend this book, even if you are not a golfer.
