About the author (2002)

B. H. V. Topping is a professor of computational mechanics at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is also the editor of "Advances in Engineering Software" and the "International Journal of Computers & Structures," C. A. Mota Soares is a professor of solids and structural mechanics at the Technical University of Lisbon.

Z. Bittnar is a professor and the head of the structural mechanics department at the faculty of civil engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, Czech Republic.
