Freud explores the cultural phenomenon of religion trough the lens of his psychoanalytical theory, and makes a pretty impassioned stand in defense of atheism. I was impressed by how prescient Freud was in his future predictions. Amazing that he wrote this in 1927. Read full review

I think that Freud stated his own views of religion as illusion. It read more as an extended article one might see in the New Yorker, though, than as a more rigorous presentation of a scientific idea, as in some of Freud's other works. Read full review
