GI: The US Infantryman in World War II
Divided into four sections, GI examines the infantryman's experience of warfare in the Pacific, North Africa, the Mediterranean and Europe. The distinct terrain, climactic and local conditions prevalent in each theatre of war placed different demands on the soldiers' training, uniform, tactical doctrine and fighting techniques -- this book reveals how the US army met the challenges it encountered. Through examining the typical experience of a single soldier in each geographic region, this book illuminates a larger picture of a nation's experience of one of history's most cataclysmic conflicts. This book combines newly commissioned text with material taken from volumes 45, 53 and 56 of the Warrior series, and features colour artworks and maps from the Warrior series.
