Page 16 - Halcón is an area with a temperature considerably lower than that of sea level and with a well-drained and often extremely dry soil. Here conditions are right for the growth of pine (Pinus merkusii). This tree grows in pure stands and is found in open scattered groves along the higher ridges and slopes, sometimes extending well down toward sea level.
