awsum book to grasp gravity in all its mysteries

User Review - Flag as inappropriate

Every possible item one needs to address about general relativity and how it relates the remainder of modern physics. The book's content is overwhelming, but is so thorough that it is difficult to find any room for complaint. Higly technical questions regarding the geometry and curvature of space time are addressed with a common sense approach, but this doesn't imply a lack of rigour in formalism. The reader will find an elegant balance between mathematical arguments and conceptual presentation. This book should be in possession of anyone looking seriously into general relativity and possibly beyond.

Wow, what a difference a clear explanation makes. One can see the hand of John Wheeler in this volume, and the philosophical depth and understanding that was characteristic of his physics. This book is a jewel! Read full review
