Excellent read!! You know, it's a sad how this thief in the night will creep in slowly and steal something ever so precious to every one of us..our mind. For me, experiencing this disease professionally and as a caregiver for loved ones, having read Mr. DeBaggio's account first hand really brought back a flood of emotions. Both good and bad, it has made me more compassionate and a much stronger individual. To those who may never have dealt with such a silent monster, Mr. DeBaggio's account gives this disease a voice. A voice that should be listened to and taken seriously. Dealing with the frustrations, the anguish, the pain of it on a daily basis on so many levels is something that no one should ever have to experience. We as caregivers, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, and friends can do something. We can keep the voices of those who have fought so hard yet sadly lost their battle to be heard, never to be silenced. I pray for those in all phases of this disease are able to find inner peace. I pray that funding shall continue strong, that those who do the research never tire, and that a cure be found putting this monster to rest, once and for all.

A very scary book to read. I am watching my mother at the very early stages of this. It is helpful to know some of what she is thinking. I know that no two people are going to react the same way. At least I can look ahead and say this is what I have to be ready for.
