Just finished reading this and found it to be intelligent, entertaining, believable and even educational. The technical details were explained simply and the story progressed at a fair pace, steering clear of the predictable. Not really science fiction and much of it not fiction at all, I'd say this was essential reading for anyone concerned with how government's measures to 'protect' us are affecting civil liberties.

Amazing book. Probably the first book that I could not put down, even when I had something else to do. Great storyline, and easy to picture as you are reading. A few of my friends have a read it and as well cant put it down, any they aren't into the field of Computer security/ hacking as I am, and they still enjoyed it. This book landed on my must read book bucket list, as well as having 4 copies shipped to the Library I get books from because of all the other requests.
If you love the field of computers. Read this book. You will not regret it.

Little Brother is easily one of the best books I have ever read. It accurately displays what would happen if the world went to hell. Five stars.

I found the book to be interesting as I have spent a lot of time in San Francisco and the author brings a new pespective to the city. The plot itself is a cautionary post 9/11 tale that is well written but perhaps a little dry at times

If you're a person who knows a lot about computers and how to hack them, you will enjoy this book. The plot is about Marcus, a high school student whose life gets turned around after a terrorist attack on the Oakland Bay Bridge in Los Angelas, and his fight against the government. It's a fairly quick and easy read. Most of the time I can never get "into" the book that I am reading. Although with Little Brother, there is always something interesting going on. It is rare to come across a boring or dull part in this book. In my opinion, this is the best book that I have ever read. The adventure, excitement, use of technology, and the fight against the government kept me reading. It's most definitely a fiction book, but has some non fiction characteristics also. Many things that Cory Doctorow put in this book are meant to scare us, like ability of government to control us. Although, some government measures in this book have already been put into action in the United States today. I especially recommend this book to high school students, mainly because they will understand the technology aspects better, and also the main characters are high school students themselves.

This is a very good book and a fairly easy read. There is a lot of computer language and terminology, but Doctorow does a good job of explaining it all and simplifying it down for the average person. It takes place in San Fransisco, in the 21st century. After a terrorist attack takes place in the city the Department of Homeland Security enacts overly strict new security measures to help protect the city's citizens. The main character of this book is Marcus, or W1n5t0n, as he goes by on the internet. He is would most would consider a computer wiz and he becomes greatly angered by the new DHS security measures in his city. Throught the rest of this book Marcus narrates his adventure as he tries to overthrow the DHS and get his city back.

Absolutely phenomenal. Just finished reading for the second time. Awesome story and lots of eye opening facts. Lots of very relevant issues. Definitely a must read.

This is an incredible book. It's a very technological book. It incorporates a lot of contemporary technology, a lot of information security, but it doesn't assume any foreknowledge. Every concept in the book is brilliantly explained, including subjects like cryptography.
However, this book isn't intended to be an intro in information security. Rather, it's a cautionary tale. And that's what's so frightening about it. Everything in this book is completely or very nearly real. Everything described in it could happen. It's all feasible. I wouldn't be surprised if it's not already happening.
If you value privacy and freedom, get this book to learn what you need to keep them. If you don't value them, or think you're safer the way things are, you should read this just so you know the other side of the coin.
It's our future. We decide how it's formed. Do we stay free, or do we let them tie us down so we can't hurt ourselves?
