Q. How did you like the book?
A. It was somewhat interesting. Mary C., the author, went through some stuff, but God was there to guide her and she came through to write the book. It was sad when
her son died, I mean he was only 18 or 19 and a good guy. But young people do die. It's always sad. Mary C. felt that her son Willie had been called by God at that time. He himself had foretold his early death, when he was a toddler. So he must have known something, something most of us don't know or have forgotten.
Q. Mary talked to Jesus?
A. Yes, when she was caught in a kayaking accident. It was a near-death experience. Jesus held her and told her she had more to do in life, so she couldn't die just then. Her husband and her children needed her. Jesus knew this, God knew this, so she was sent back to earth. Later a big owl keeps showing up at her house to give her a tacit message.
Q. What do you think of her experiences?
A. I think she was taking a lot of risks, kayaking and trying to jump streams on skis. But she was a sporting type, so that was her thing. As far as talking to Jesus and God, I believe her. I have not had such an experience, but there have been coincidences in my life that caused me to believe that a higher power, the Christian God or something else, had a reason for me to keep being here on earth. But Mary C. has been through far more than I have. I never learned to ride a skateboard, much less ski or kayak in white waters.
