This is actually one of my favorites in the series, albeit Cole Protocol. It has great detail and you seem to be with the characters as they fight for their lives.

An absolutely outstanding novel. No stone is left unturned- everything is explained in detail without getting boring. From common knowledge to science to military aspects, real or not, everything in the book seems possible. I truely felt as if all of this could be achieved, one way or another as I read the book from cover-to-cover.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good read in the genres of action/adventur, military operations, or science-fiction. I even urge those who don't endulge in those categories to give it a chance.
Again, this is a truely sensational piece of literature. Excellent job, Joseph Staten.

I've actually read this book myself. It's a great book.If you like Halo history,I highly recommend it.It's about Sergeant Avery Johnson,Masterchief's comrade in battle, and how the Covenant were discovered. At first, the UNSC is at war with The Insurrectionists, who are basically bandits who colonize on planets like Harvest,(Ofcourse),Reach, and other places. But this book also comes up with other characters besides Johnson, like Captain Ponder,Private Healy, and Dadab,a Grunt(or Un-Goy).This book has a great way of turning enemies into Characters, like Dadab,or Maccabeus, the Brute Chieftain,or Tarturus,(Who is the Brute Chieftain in Halo 2).If you want to know why the Covenant are so hellbent on destroying humanity, this book will tell you that.
"Halo:Contact Harvest"explains almost everything that you may not
know about the Halo Universe. You ever wondered how Tarturus became Brute Chieftain after his uncle Maccabeus? This story explains that!If you're interested in the Covenant, this is the book for you.
P.S.
Johnson Rules!!!

The strangest twist in the series, Contact Harvest was written by a Bungie employee (Bungie being the guys who made Halo). It outlines humans first contact with the Covenant and answers a few questions regarding the Covenant as a group, especially their leaders.
Having played Halo 2 is a prerequisite before picking it up, and Halo 3 may help with explaining one of the vehicles.

This book did Johnson justice. It brought out the character of him while keeping the Halo feeling there. It was a good read. Read it if you have a chance, google has a copy of the whole book online.
