Candles on Bay StreetSam Hebert is the veterinarian of Fort Kent, a close-knit community in the heart of Maine. He narrates the story of Dee Dee Michaud, a beautiful, boisterous hometown girl with whom he was in love as a young man. His heart was broken when Dee Dee left town with Bobby Langford after high school. She roared off in his flashy Corvette, and never returned until now. She suddenly resettles in Fort Kent with her son, Trooper. Bobby disappeared years ago. She starts a candle-making business and soon possesses an avid following; however, why, in the midst of reunions with old friends and a successful new business does she look so pale?
