En Pocas Palabras
The author of Drink Cultura gathered this generous bilingual compilation of Latino folk sayings—dichos. Arranged by theme, these dichos express Latino wit and wisdom about subjects from Ability, Adversity, and Advice to Work, Writing, and Youth.

From the book's subtitle ('A compendium of Latino folk wit and wisdom') and description in our local library catalog, I thought this must be a selection of anecdotes, parables, and humorous stories. No such luck; it's a book of dichos, Spanish proverbs, with their English translation and occasionally a parallel English proverb for comparison. For what it is, it's great - a good selection, arranged in more or less intuitive categories, with category names along the outer edge of the pages, which makes it easy to thumb through to the desired section. The sayings are all pretty G rated - nothing racy or malicious, an explicit choice of the editor.
