Short version:
This book is exactly what it seems to be. A book that sets out to disprove the basis for a scientific belief in religious ideas. It accomplishes what it sets out to do. Apart from a
somewhat weak appeal to justify humanism. Dwakins shows rather convincingly through documented cases and logical reasoning, that all cases for belief are not justifiable in a scientific or reasonable way. For me the most convincing arguments were the cargo cults.

Review: The God Delusion

Excellent book. Dawkins makes a number of logical, common sense arguments that are hard to refute. I'm not traditionally religious, and this book actually pushed me closer to an atheistic POV. I plan to read more books by Richard Dawkins. I like his writing style (and his narration voice, too!) Read full review

Devotedly delusional in its description , but nails the mark when the author speaks of how religion teaches one to be happy without understanding the crux of anything. didn't succeed in making me delusional, but definitely detached from the destitudes of devotion. Read full review

I skimmed through about the first 1/3 of this book before it started to engage me, then I slowed down and fully read the rest of it. A great read. Even though I never went back and read every word of the part I just skimmed, I still feel like I got the gist of it by the end. Read full review

Richard Dawkins is a little too polemic for my tastes (I believe in fighting fire with water). Some of his arguments against religion seem like very broad brush strokes that do not necessarily apply ... Read full review
