About the author (2005)

Patrick D. Miller is Charles T. Haley Professor Emeritus of Old Testament Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. He is the author of numerous books, including "The Religion of Ancient Israel". He is coeditor of the Interpretation commentary series and the Westminster Bible Companion series. In 1998, he served as President of the Society of Biblical Literature. He was also editor of "Theology Today" for twenty years.

James Luther Mays is Cyrus M. McCormick Professor Emeritus of Hebrew and Old Testament Interpretation at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. He was the general editor of the best-selling Interpretation: A Bible Commentary for Teacing and Preaching series, and is author of many books, including "Psalms" in the Interpretation series and "The Lord Reigns: A TheologicalHandbook to the Psalms".

Paul J. Achtemeier is Professor Emeritus of Biblical Interpretation at Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Virginia. He is coeditor of the popular series, Interpretation: A Bible Commentary for Teaching and Preaching.
