A treatise on a Box of instruments and the slide rule:
The title has a small error; it describes the use of a BOX of instruments. These instruments include compasses, rulers, a 'scale', and of course the slide rule.
This is an excellent scan of an old book, and the language is quite accessible to modern readers.
If anyone has any interest in practical methods of geometrical construction, this is a must-read. The procedures described here are practically lost arts. The best use of this information is not practical use on our own, though that is certainly possible, but instead understanding the reason for and basis of practical geometry.
Too often in our modern lives we take the computer's or some published answer with an 'I believe' button. Understanding how the tricks are done, even at an elementary level, can create understanding of how to best use the results we're given - and when not to use them because they don't apply.
