First hand account of the 1969-1971 Native American occupation of Alcatraz. Fairly well written but it doesn't give first hand accounts of what was actually happening on the island. Adam Fortune Eagle was left on the mainland during the whole thing. BUT, it is informative and entertaining. Read full review

About the author (1992)

From 1962-1976 Fortunate Eagle served as Chairman of the United Council, an Indian political organization, and became a well-known activist. Best known for his coordination of the Alcatraz invasion.
