I would have preferred that the book have color photographs as opposed to drawings but over all it is a good field guide. I like that the guide also shows what the bird looks like in flight. Read full review

Let's be real, this is a field guide. That being said, it is a very useful, the variety of pictures cover all the bases and the descriptions are spot on. By far the best field guide for beginners. Read full review

About the author (2003)

David Allen Sibley is the author and illustrator of a series of highly acclaimed books about birds and birding. He is the recipient of the Roger Tory Peterson Award presented by the American Birding Association for a lifetime of achievement. He lives in Concord, Massachusetts, with his wife and two sons.
