Pampered chefUser Review - Book Verdict
Here, Christopher relates how she founded her enormously successful kitchen tools company, the Pampered Chef, in 1980. Reading like a novel in which one really cares about the characters and their achievements, her story begins at her Illinois high school, where Christopher transferred from a typing class to a home economics course; this led to her great interest in cooking, which she translated into a career teaching home economics until she decided to raise her children fulltime. Then, wishing to bolster the household income, she started the Pampered Chef with $3000 borrowed from a family life insurance policy. Christopher showcased her products via kitchen shows in potential customers' homes, and interest in her wares took off. Today, the Pampered Chef conducts one million kitchen shows for 12 million customers, with sales approaching $1 billion. Also provided are profiles of company directors and consultants and practical advice and strategies for starting and running a business. Inspirational and fascinating reading, this is highly recommended. [See Prepub Alert, LJ 3/1/05.] Lucy Heckman, St. John's Univ. Lib., Jamaica, NY

I am enjoying it. Very simple language, almost a "to do list" - yet strikes a personal note, and very engaging. Doris speaks to my heart!
