809 John Henry9 Whitlock, son of John Gilbert and Mary (Sanford) Whitlock, born 17 May, 1837, in Castleton, Vt.; married 6 February, 1866, Clara M. Griffith of Cuthbert Co., Ga. She was born there 5 May, 1845.

John Henry Whitlock went South in 1860, and had a jewelry store in Eufaula, Ala. Being also a telegrapher, he served as such in the Confederate service during the Civil War. He died 3 May, 1900, in Eufaula.

She was graduated from Castleton Seminary in 1867, with honor. Children:

John Hopkins Denison graduated from Greylock Institute, South Williamstown, Mass., in 1886; Williams College in 1890; studied for the ministry at Andover Theological Seminary; Assistant in First Congregational Church, Kansas City, Mo., 1893; Assistant Madison Square Presbyterian Church, New York City, 1894-5; pastor Presbyterian Church of Sea and Land, New York, 1895-1903; pastor Central Congregational Church, Boston, Mass., since 1903.
