About the author (2008)

James Dashner was born in Georgia and attended Brigham Young University. Before becoming a full-time writer, he worked in finance. He writes The 13th Reality series, The Jimmy Fincher Saga, and the Maze Runner series. His novel The Journal of Curious Letters was chosen for a 2008 Borders Original Voices pick. In 2013 his title's Death Cure and The Eye of Minds made The New York Times Best Seller List. The Kill Order (Maze Runner Prequel) and The Rule of Thoughts made the New York Times bestseller list in 2014.

Bryan Beus is an artist and author. His illustration credits include the cover and interiors for James Dashner's "The 13th Reality" books one and two; and cover paintings and tutorials for Corel Corporations's "Painter" software series. Most well-known for his artwork, he is now branching into the world of graphic novels. In 2009 Shadow Mountain Publishing (an imprint of Deseret Book) purchased the rights to his first full-length graphic novel. The title and publication date are tentatively set for a 2015 release. While waiting through the publication process of his larger novel Bryan recently created a self-published novella, "The Shortcut in the Sky."
