Reporting

Print

On this page, we'll show you how to create reports for the statistics generated by your account, which can help you better understand the effects of your participation in the Google Books Partner Program. You'll also find a glossary explaining the terms mentioned in reports.

Creating a report

You can customize the data in your 'Reports' tab across three categories: the number of books to include in the report, the period of time for which you'd like to generate data, and the category by which to order your data. Select these preferences from the 'Build Your Report' section as follows. Once you're done, select 'Display Report' to view the report that you've created.

1. "See Report For:"
This option allows you to choose the books you'd like included in your report. Using the drop-down menu, you can select all of your titles, or just those titles belonging to a particular imprint. If you'd rather generate a report for a single book, you can do so by entering its ISBN or unique identifier in the field next to 'One Book.' Make sure to select the button next to this field.

2. "Select time period:"
Here, you can select the date range of your report. For a report on your all-time performance with Google Books, leave the month and year fields as 'All Months' and 'All Years.' To view statistics from a particular month, select the corresponding month and year from the drop-down menus. If you'd like to view data for an entire year, simply leave the month field as 'All Months' and select a year.

3. "Show data by:"
In this section, you'll select the category that orders the display of your data. For example, if you select 'Month,' each line of your report will display the data for a different month. Selecting 'Book,' meanwhile, displays a report in which each line corresponds to a different ISBN or unique identifier.

Other reports

In addition to the reports described above, you can also view graphical reports of the statistics generated by your account.

Glossary

Ad clickthrough rate (CTR): The number of clicks an ad unit receives divided by the number of times the ad unit is shown (ad impressions).

Book Visits (BV): A Book Visit is registered each time a unique user views your book. This statistic includes non-content page views (such as the 'About this book' page) as well as full content page views.

Buy Link CTR: The number of BV with Buy Clicks divided by the number of Book Visits.

BV with Buy Clicks: Each time a user clicks on a Buy Link, a "BV (Book Visit) with Buy Click" is registered in your account report.

BV with Pages Viewed: The number of Book Visits in which users accessed pages of your book. A "BV with Pages Viewed" would not be registered if, for example, a user accessed only the 'About this book' page of your book.

Pages Viewed: The number of unique pages a user views in a given session (counted as a 24 hour period). Regardless of the number of times that a unique user views a page, it can only be registered once. For example, if User A first views pages 14, 15, 16, 43 and 44, and then returns to pages 14, 15 and 16, only 5 Pages Viewed are registered.
