Opening the Uploader
In order to upload PDF files to your account, you will first need to open the Google Uploader. To do so, please follow these steps:
- Log in to your Google Books account at http://books.google.com/partner/login.
- Click the Books tab.
- Click Add Books.
- Click Upload/Ship Books.
- Click the "Launch Google Uploader >>" button
Adding new books
To add upload PDF files using the Uploader, simply drag and drop your them from your computer into the Uploader window. You can also click the "Add Books..." and locate the files on your hard drive. Please note that the maximum size per file is currently 250 MB.
If you're uploading multiple files associated with a single ISBN, we recommend placing them into a single folder and dragging that folder directly into the Uploader window. If you choose to drag individual files rather than folders, each file will appear as a separate row in the Uploader window.
Adding/Deleting files
If you wish to add files to a book you've already added to the uploader window, such as a front or back cover, simply find the row with the corresponding ISBN and click the "Add" link in the "Title" column. This will bring up a file selection window, which you can use to add additional files to your book.
To delete files from a book you've added to the Uploader, find the row of the corresponding ISBN, and under the "Title" column right-click the file you wish to remove. Then select "Remove this file" from the menu. You can remove as many files from an ISBN as you wish.
You can also specify which files are front or back covers by right-clicking on a file, and selecting the appropriate item from the menu.
Editing book info
The Uploader will attempt to add metadata for any books that you drag into the Uploader window. If we are unable to determine this information about your books, you can enter it directly into the Uploader window. For example, if a book is missing ISBN, title, author or territorial rights information, simply click the corresponding field and enter the correct information in the field. We recommend including a "Buy this Book" URL for each of your books.
Uploading
Once you've finished adding all your books to be uploaded, click the "Upload Books" button in the lower right-hand corner of the Uploader window. You will see a status bar indicating the progress of your upload. Once this status bar disappears, your files have been uploaded and you can safely close the Uploader.
System Requirements
The Google Uploader runs within a Java environment on your computer. For the best results, please make sure that you have installed the version 1.5 or later of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). You can download the most recent JRE from the following link: http://www.java.com/download.
For Windows users, version 1.5 or later of JRE can be used on Windows XP and later; for Macintosh users, it can be used on OSX 10.4 and later. If your system does not meet the requirements, please use our web form, or contact us about sending PDF files on DVDs.
