About this product

Product Information

It is the year 42 AD, and Centurion Macro, battle-scarred and fearless, is in the heart of Germany with the Second Legion, the toughest in the Roman army. Cato, a new recruit and the newly appointed second-in-command to Macro, will have more to prove than most. In a bloody skirmish with local tribes, Cato gets his first chance to prove that he's more than a callow, privileged youth. As their next campaign takes them to a land of unparalleled barbarity - Britain - a special mission unfolds, thrusting Cato and Macro headlong into a conspiracy that threatens to topple the Emperor himself.

Book was listed as 'very good' condition, but when it arrived the cover had stains, creases and folds, and a small tear on one edge. It was packaged ok and the packaging was not damaged, so this was not something that happened during shipping. I messaged them and they replied quickly and instructed me to initiate a return through eBay. I was refunded the full price in less than an hour. Great customer service!

  • Under the Eagle

The first in a series by Scarrow, (now eight books) it depicts two Roman soldiers and the events leading to thier deployment with the 2nd Legion Augustus in its preparation to invade Britian. To those who served in the military, much of the Roman soldiers life is not surprising. The pitfalls and scrapes that Marco and Cato encounter make for lively reading. You will look forward to book number two, The Eagle's Conquest.

  • Hard to put down.

Fascinating look at Roman Military Life and logistics. Well-depicted characters. Cover to cover compelling reading.
