About the author (1999)

Advertising executive and author Dave Freeman was born in Whittier, California on February 21, 1961. He received a bachelor's degree in urban planning from USC in 1983 and worked in the advertising industry his entire life. He and Neil Teplica created a travel website, which was online from 1996 to 2001, that showcased festivals and events. In 1999, they wrote a travel guide entitled 100 Things to Do Before You Die: Travel Events You Just Can't Miss. This travel guide included such events as the Academy Awards ceremony; the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain; the National Hollerin' Contest in North Carolina; and Australia's Nude Night Surfing contest. He died after falling and hitting his head on August 17, 2008 at the age of 47.

Neil Teplica is the publisher of the Web site What's Going On and owns his own hospitality consulting firm.
