About the author (2003)

John W. Murphy was born in New Haven, Connecticut. Because his father was Mayor there for many years, he and his sisters, Mary Ellen and Catherine, got to meet many celebrities, like Marian Anderson, Charles Laughton, Ann Rutherford, Orson Welles, Walter Pidgeon and Mickey Rooney, together with Judy Garland. Murphy is a graduate of Fordham College in New York. He served as teacher and principal in the Department of Defense Dependents Schools in Germany, Greece and Italy. He and his wife, Rita, live in California. His previous book is Aesop, Just in Rhyme, a new, lighter version of the famous fables, for readers of all ages.
