A Bittersweet Journey Through Breastcancerland: A Romantic Passage from the Courageous Canyons of War Through the Jubilant Plains of Peace to the Glorious Summit of Love
On June 24th, 2008, Rosella, the author's wife of over 62-1/2 years, succumbed to the ravages of breast cancer. During the last few months of her life he emailed their two sons and other family members on a nightly basis, telling of her condition and recalling the theatricality of their lives together as they approached marriage's final curtain. Those emails and their replies became a journal which would form the basis for a chronicle narrating a life-long love affair, from its improbable war-time Alpha through a long life filled with the excitement of the performing arts, to its loving Omega 62 years later. Told at times in novelesque style and with emails reproduced verbatim, this book is a verismo account of the meaning of Biblical True Love, standing by all their marriage vows and sometimes light-hearted acceptance that even the Good Life has its inevitable conclusion.
