Reading this I could not only hear his voice but the voice of many Cubans, and other exiles and immigrants, who came to this country and celebrated their adoption of the American Dream. In many ways his story foretells the post-1959 Cuban exodus and the way it is retold. His narrative is so "cubanaso" that this book has become one of my all time favorites.
