About the author (2008)

Ivy Samuel was born in Malaysia and is related to the Malaysian royal family. She taught in Singapore and qualified as a teacher before moving to England to study law at Lincoln’s Inn. She married another legal executive before returning to Malaysia, where she worked as a magistrate before setting up her own legal firm. She then rejoined her husband in England and, after his death in 1995, she became a solicitor.
