John Perkins links his experiences to new revelations that expose the drive for empire that lies behind the rhetoric of globalization....Economic hit men (EHMs) are highly paid professionals who cheat countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars. They funnel money from the World Bank, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and other foreign ''aid'' organizations into the coffers of huge corporations and the pockets of a few wealthy families who control the planet's natural resources. Their tools include fraudulent financial reports, rigged elections, payoffs, extortion, sex, and murder. They play a game as old as empire, but one that has taken on new and terrifying dimensions during this time of globalization.

I originally had this book in audiobook form and now ebook. I have referred to it more than any I have read in the last decade and have tried [sadly often in vain] to get relatives and friends to read it.
I know of no work that so effectively peels the onion of international banksters, their puppet politicos, arms trafficking, war mongering, planned civil unrest, and the cycle of privatization/nationalization that robs nations/states of their resources.
As others have said, this 'book' is more a collection of writings from authors with diverse backgrounds, differing political views, and not all "professional writers", but people who have held positions that put them in the midst of the machinery now being exposed. The phony Left/Right political paradigm in the West always offers up candidates that promise "change", but deliver the same enslavement to international loansharks, war-for-profit machines, ponzi-scheming banking strongholds that are independent and privately-run, and without audit, oversight, or transparency. The system has inflicted tragedy without hope to underdeveloped states for decades, and now the chickens are just beginning to come home to roost in the West as foreclosure looms.
What ever you THINK your current political persuasion is, READ THIS BOOK. You will never hear/see the "news" in the same dark filter again... it will not make you happy, but it will make you informed of reality.
