A different approach, emphasizing the influence of art and other external forces on the development of Christianity. Helps me project myself back into the times better than any other history book on the subject. Would be great for home school for high school students.

About the author (1998)

Owen Chadwick was Regius Professor of Modern History at Cambridge from 1968 to 1983. He has written many books, including The Reformation, The Victorian Church, The Popes and European Revolution, as a result of which he was awarded the Wolfson Prize for history, and Michael Ramsey.
