The Dethick family from Derbyshire in England has a long and interesting history which reflects the history of Britain from the Wars of the Roses to the Dissolution of the Monasteries, from execution for treason to attempted regicide under the Tudors, from Catholicism to Anglicanism and Puritanism, from the East India Company to transportion to America and emigration to Australia. Original sources incude charters, letters, law suits, trials, a ship's log, parish records and British Census returns from 1841- 1901.

I just received this book, and it is a treasure trove for anyone researching the Dethick family. Plenty of sources to do your own first hand research, but it would have been nice if Ms. Dethick had included footnotes and actual references to particular bits of information. For instance, she states that Robert de Dethek, son of Jordan de Dethek, is "mentioned in the 1100s in the Honour of Peveril", but provides no source for that, or for his descent from Jordan.
On the whole, it's a good book, but needed a bit of editing and better footnoting. But as a jumping off point for your own research, as well as clearing up murky relationships and ancestry, it's great!
