About the author (1988)

Dr. Harry Brois Professor of Philosophy and Humanities at the University of Northern Iowa. He lectures extensively at many colleges and universities, regularly consults for media and other institutions, and serves on the Editorial Boards of several journals.? Dr. Brod served as Director of the Iowa Regent Universities Men's Gender Violence Prevention Institute, and on the Board of Directors of Humanities Iowa. He received the Harry Cannon Award for Exemplary and Sustained Contributions to the Field of Men's Studies from the American College Personnel Association's Standing Committee for Men, as well as the Leadership and Service Award from the Men's Center of Saint John's University (Minnesota), and held a Fellowship in Law and Philosophy at Harvard Law School. He has appeared on "CNN", "Today", "Geraldo", and other TV and radio programs, been interviewed in "Newsweek", "Rolling Stone", "The Wall Street Journal", "New York Times", "Los Angeles Times", "Chronicle of Higher Education" and other publications, and his articles have been published in many journals and popular magazines. He is the father of two children.
