About the author (2006)

The story of Adriana Dodge is one of courage and determination; through sheer willpower and an unstoppable work ethic, Adriana has been able to reach amazing milestones against all odds. To know Adriana is to know energy and excitement, focus and charisma, all coiled up and ready to explode from her cheerful 4 ft. 11 inch frame. Adriana faced childhood in Bogotá, Colombia one of the worlds most dangerous cities. In a country where most of her school mates barely finish high school, Adriana dug in and excelled in academics. She received a University degree in Hotel Management in her native Colombia before emigrating to the U.S in 1986. Adriana worked her way through college in Minneapolis in a variety of jobs, including being a nanny and a singer. Adriana learned to master English while attending college and achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in business at Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis. In a country which often finds its newest citizens toiling away in dead-end service industry jobs, Adriana bucked the trend by hiring her own immigration attorney to assist her in evaluating the job opportunities that would provide a permanent residency status in her new home. The two parlayed Adrianas unique life experience into a faculty position teaching Hotel Management and Hospitality in both English and Spanish for Twin Cities Opportunities Industrialization Center (TCOIC). Before long, she was also teaching U.S. banking, computers, and other life skills to young adults and displaced workers. The little girl from Colombia who had to do it all for herself was now paving the way for others to escape their dreary world of fast food jobs and janitorial work for a better life. Her faculty advisors were so impressed with Adrianas teaching skill and hard work that they sponsored her for permanent U.S. residency on the basis that she was the only one qualified to perform the duties of her job. She achieved her permanent residency status in 1995. Adriana proudly took the oath as a citizen in May of 2000. Her unique ability to pull herself up by her bootstraps and succeed against almost impossible odds kept Adriana in constant demand as a teacher and lecturer. Adriana has served on the faculties of respected colleges including Hennepin Technical College, KRS Business School, and Academy College. Her company Multilingual Training Services employed over 300 interpreters and translators for the U.S. court system, non profit organizations, and major organizations including McDonalds, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the Office of the United States Trustee. Now based in Clearwater, Florida, Adriana is the CEO of four companies: Home Realty LLC, Achieving Results LLC, Exotic Destinations LLC, and Generalship LLC. She is featured in the 59th edition (2005) of Whos Who in America, a publication that profiles the countrys 100,000 most accomplished men and women from across all fields of endeavor.
