A Point of Reference has been written to give young teen men some good advice, direction and some encouragement at this impressionable and uncertain time in their lives. It can also assist any parent, married or single, or foster, or guardian or mentor with a conversation that all young men need to have at this pivotal and influential time of their lives. Which is a difficult conversation to have or try to find time to have, in our busy lives these days. I am just trying to inform young men about some of the different aspects of life, and help them to avoid some of life's pitfalls. How to get along with family and understanding home life. Knowing about their personal health and hygiene, getting and keeping a job, finding a career and not some temporary employment, and the very important topic of personal finance. A point of Reference is allot of the basic information that they absolutely need to know about, written down on paper, in plain simple English, and in clear back and white, for them to read and refer back to as often as they like. It is a great stepping stone to maturity and should be read by every young man. David Sharpton is a married husband, father of three and grandfather of two, who grew up in West Medford Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. In a neighbor hood that was quite close, where everybody new each other, and where his parents were very active in the community. Being the oldest of three, Dave was raised by his fairly strict parents who were both on the same page as far as discipline and considers himself fortunate to have had that kind of upbringing. Dave went entirely through the fairly diverse Medford school system, while spending many summers at YMCA and Morgan Memorial summer camps with young inner city boys, and graduating from Medford High. aircraft. Meeting and working with many other young men from across the country, and learning what it is like to live out on his own. Soon after being discharged from the military, he met his beautiful wife and started his own family. Dave currently has his own business of 20-plus years sanding and restoring hardwood floors. In light of his own ascent through man hood and working along side so many young men through out his working career he has seen the need to try and write a book of direction, encouragement, and advice for young men growing up today, including his own son.
